Yes & Amen Blessing

(Video:  Yes & Amen - Pat Barrett & Bethel Redding)

This song (above) is one of our favorite songs we sing right now.  Recently my daughter was asking me what exactly does it mean when we say God's promises are "Yes and Amen"?  So, I began to share with her the thousands of promises in scripture that as a new covenant believer, are ours because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross for us.  If God blesses Abraham one way, we can receive that promise "YES" for us!  If God speaks in the Psalms of a blessing to King David, we can say "AMEN" (so be it) for us!

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. ~ 2 Corinthians 1:20

If you are born again, you are blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1).  We partake of these blessings inside of Jesus by BELIEVING them.  Jesus gave us EVERYTHING we need for life (2 Peter 1).  In Deuteronomy 28, the Bible lists blessings that come from obeying God and your performance as an Old Testament believer.  When Jesus died and rose again he purchased EVERYTHING for life and godliness, therefore, the Deuteronomy 28 blessings are ours by faith in Jesus. On the flip side, there are also "Curses" in Deuteronomy 28, and the Bible says that JESUS redeemed us (rescued us) from the curse, by becoming a curse for us (Galatians 3).  Every sickness, every disease, every curse Jesus has redeemed for us and turned it to blessing - we just have to believe it and receive it!  Jesus fulfilled all of the Old Testament Commandments on our behalf and now we receive them, through faith and trusting in Jesus.  The New Testament believer has faith in Jesus who did everything right, on our behalf.  We get the blessing through HIS obedience and HIS performance.

In thinking about God's "Yes & Amen", blessings in my life, I thought I would share a few recent blessings with you . . .

❤  Our family has been praying for a new car.  The other day a friend walked up to us at church and informed John that he was giving us a car.  We have been juggling one car in our family for awhile now and with driving hours daily, it can get to be a challenge.  So, this weekend, we should be receiving another car.  Yes & Amen!
❤  My son, Simeon, was sick last week with the flu.  He had a bad sore throat, body aches, fever, etc. and was home from school for a couple days.  The morning  he returned to school, I was running an errand in Phoenix and halfway to town, my back started to hurt, my body started aching and by the time I reached town I was chilled/feverish and just my clothes touching my skin hurt. I began to declare Jesus as my healer and receiving everything He purchased for me in health.   A couple hours later when I got home, I crashed in bed (middle of the day).  I put on a podcast and drifted in and out of sleep.  I woke up to hear a healing service happening on my iPhone and then drifted off again.  I woke up a couple hours later, ravenous hungry, and as I made myself something to eat, I realized every symptom was gone from my body.  I had been completely healed. Yes & Amen!
❤  The last few years, we spend most of our travel/vacation funds, on our foster children, since we moved away from Washington. This winter someone dear to our family, told us that they had extra Southwest tickets and if we ever needed them we should just call.  So, this week, I called, and this person made reservations for our foster kids to be here for spring break for a very minimal price out of our pocket ($22).  Blessings . . .  Yes & Amen!
❤  In-n-Out gave me a free double double cheese burger the other night.  Ha!! :-)  Yes & Amen!
❤  Recently I was driving into our small town about 30 minutes from us, to pick my son up at school.  The gas tank was on empty and had been since before I started the trip and I didn't know if I was going to make it.  I began to lay hands on my fuel gauge and command it to be filled.  I watched as the tank began to move upwards.  Mind you, I was on a straight desert stretch of highway with no curves, hills, nothing.  My tank went up to almost 1/4 tank of gas and the light went off empty.  I was able to make it with ease to the gas station.  A few days later, I again had only a little gas left in tank and my light was on (we do lots of miles weekly) but I knew I had enough to make it to the station.  I watched as it continued to drop as normal, no ups and downs, no light going off, therefore continuing to confirm the miraculous of the previous days.  Yes & Amen!
❤ The non-profit for sex trafficking that my husband John and I are starting needs a good video intro on our website.  We were just given a promo video from XPMinistries and their professional videographer crew.  Whew!  Yes & Amen!

I walk in perpetual blessings.  Does this mean I get everything I want all the time?  No, but, I do live with an EXPECTATION for blessing to manifest and with the confidence that when things do not look like a blessing, God is working!  Because, GOD WORKS EVERYTHING FOR GOOD (Romans 8).  It is my inheritance in Christ.
