A Thought to Ponder

"How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you."  ~ Psalm 31:19

I love this scripture from Psalms 31.  How amazing picturing God storing up good things for us and then in front of everyone giving them to us.  The only caveat is that we walk in the fear of the Lord and seek protection and shelter (refuge) inside of Him.  I love this!

The Bible says the Fear of the Lord is a fountain of life (Proverbs 14).  The Fear of the Lord is humility (Proverbs 22) and of course all the scriptures concerning wisdom and understanding being a gateway to the Fear of the Lord.  But the scripture I always think of and quote when I am defining the fear of the Lord is, Proverbs 8:14 "To fear the Lord is to hate evil".  I tell my kids to fear the Lord is to love what He loves and hate what He hates and evil is something that falls into that hate category (Psalm 97:10).

So, we can look at Psalms 31 like this . . .  God has abundant goodness stored up for us when we walk before Him in humility hating what He hates and seeking His wisdom and understanding.  And everyone will see His goodness displayed in our lives as we take refuge/shelter in Him.  Love it!  A nice thought to ponder . . .
